Our monthly meeting is this Wednesday, April 5
My Favourite Fabric Shop (Tanya Gruzecki) is doing a pop-up shop at our meeting. So come prepared to check out her great fabrics and bolster your stash.
Don't forget to bring your "Spring" postcard so we can all see what our members have created.
We will have a little business: such as suggestions for future speakers/workshops.
Bring your mug for coffee/tea.
See you there!

Sew-in's are always fun!
Saturday's sew-in was fun with 5 of us working on our projects. Becky showed us how to make cross-cut blocks so you don't have to match the strips. Yeahhh!

Sew-in coming up! Join us!
Our sew-in day is this Saturday, March 25 at the Hammond Bay Regional Library (6250 Hammond Bay Rd.). Start time is 10:00am and you can go until.......you run out of thread, fabric, inspiration, stamina, etc. (or all of the above).
Work on your unfinished modern projects or start a new one. We all like to see what others are working on.
Feel free to drop in and take a look at what we are doing.

Our busy March meeting
Stacie Wilson, the President of the Victoria MQG visited us and extended an invitation to attend their Necessary Clutch workshop with Jill Spyker: TWO sessions on Saturday, March 18. #1 9am-12pm and #2 1pm-4pm $35 including pattern. If you would like to take this workshop check on their website http://www.mqgvictoria.com/p/workshops.html for the sign-up details.
We had an update on the "Spring" postcard challenge and you're reminded to mail your postcard by March 18 so recipients can bring them to the April meeting.
Carly demonstrated a few ways to quilt-as-you-go. Carly uses diaper flannel as the backing for her quilt-as-you-go and then it doesn't require batting.
The challenge exercise was to take a magazine page that appealed to us and then to express it as a modern rendition.
Joy demoed templates that help with fussy cutting and square in square construction. This demo was done with "smooshing" being involved.
Reminder that our next sew-in is on Saturday, March 25 at the Hammond Bay branch of the Library. Sign up by contacting nanaimomqg@gmail.com
Our show and shares. Awesome projects!
